SOUTHEAST TENNIS AND LEARNING CENTER
The South East Tennis & Learning Center in SE Washington DC is a $16 million, 48,000 sq. ft. design-build project. Turner Construction was responsible for a combination of renovations and additions which included a new 8,000 sq. ft. Arena containing 6 new indoor courts and a mezzanine spectator level with seating for 400 people. Outdoors 6 new exterior synthetic courts were constructed along with one new clay tech practice court and a new tennis-themed playground. FMCC was a subcontractor on this project and was retained to complete 8 bioretention pond systems, demo and remove existing tennis courts, and build all storm drain systems. Our team provided all erosion and sediment controls and managed all construction work related to the West End of the new tennis building.
Project Significance
This project demonstrates Fort Myer Construction’s ability to construct site work at a learning center which was performed within a tight schedule. The team also encountered unsuitable soil conditions and had to accommodate on-time work around poor weather conditions.
