CITYCENTERDC SITE WORK
Fort Myer had the opportunity to partner with Clark Construction Group, LLC and Smoot Construction in constructing the CityCenterDC, a 10-acre mixed-use project that created a pedestrian-friendly neighborhood in the heart of downtown Washington, DC, blending retail, entertainment, residential, and office spaces.
Fort Myer was responsible for the concrete paving, granite curbs, brick gutters, and asphalt paving sections of the project. The worked included site paving at the central plaza, alleys, and the NW park; retractable bollards: interim improvements included mill and overlay of the full road width around the perimeter of the proposed curb line.
Project Significance
This project showcases Fort Myer Construction’s ability to skillfully manage tight time schedules and restricted work space due to a congested job site where several other construction companies were working in the same area. The overall project was a $700 M mixed-used redevelopment of 10 acres of land that previously hosted the “old” convention center. Also, Fort Myer had to work around NW Park and the newly built central plaza that included a tremendous amount of intricate site work.
