DC PUBLIC SCHOOLS ATHLETIC FIELDS
In the summer of 2008, the DC Office of Public Education Facilities Modernization (OPEFM) proposed a summer blitz to reconstruct various athletic fields throughout the Metropolitan DC area. These schools included Cardozo Senior High School, Anacostia Senior High School, Spingarn Senior High School, J.O. Wilson Elementary School, Stanton Elementary School, and Eastern Senior High School. Fort Myer Construction took on this intense project without hesitation and leveraged their knowledge of local subcontractors. Their readiness and perseverance resulted in all tasks being completed within the proposed deadlines. The stringent timeframe required FMCC to use several adequate subcontractors from a ample catalog of contacts.
Project Significance
This project demonstrated Fort Myer Construction’s ability to construct an integrated athletic and recreational facility with environmentally-related challenges in a timely manner. The project included installing and incorporating all electrical and lighting systems and orchestrating various construction activities at once to provide outstanding athletic sport fields throughout the DC Metropolitan Area.
