RIDGE ROAD RECREATION CENTER RENOVATION
This project replaced and modified an existing community recreation center building that was built in the 1960’s and was undersized and not adequately configured for the myriad programming functions of the center. The 25,000 SF recreation center will cater to an active senior population, critical community youth programs, as well as a variety of youth athletic organizations. The amenities of the facility includes a full-sized gymnasium, fitness area, dedicated senior and teen spaces, multi-purpose classrooms, computer lab, locker rooms, basketball court, pool facilities outdoor, playground area, as well as support spaces. The facility includes passive solar control measures that are central to the design of the facility and designed to LEED Gold standards.
Fort Myer Construction was a subcontractor on this project and our portion of work consisted of paving and striping of a new parking lot, track and sidewalks, asphalt and porous paving, porous asphalt at rubberized basketball court.
Project Significance
This project demonstrates Fort Myer’s ability to successfully complete a project in a short timeframe. Fort Myer was requested to join the team towards the end of the contract and was able to repair and complete all paving, striping, and some pipe work that was required to open the recreation center on time for the summer.
