DULLES TOLL ROAD NOISE WALLS NW2
In this contract, FMCC reconstructed approximately 2,050 LF of Noise Wall #2, located at Mclean Hamlet, east of Spring Hill Road along westbound Dulles Toll Road (DTR) and approximately 3,550 LF of Noise Wall #3, located at Ordick Corner, east of Route 7 interchange along westbound DTR.
FMCC was responsible for all labor, material, and equipment necessary to replace the concrete panel on Noise Wall NW-2. We were also responsible for field survey, detailing and construction of the replacement panels, posts for the noise walls, and pouring new drilled shaft foundations. Maintenance of traffic and pavement re-surfacing were also included in the Scope of Work.
Project Significance
The noise wall replacement better mitigates noise from Dulles Toll Road traffic. Maintaining safe vehicular flow along the Dulles Toll Road was a priority as this is a heavily traveled road with high speed traffic. Careful maintenance of traffic was key to ensure minimal disruption to the traveling public.
FMCC also had the opportunity to subcontract some of the work to Geo Contractors where they were able to install drill shafts, posts, and panels.
