CATHEDRAL COMMONS
The Cathedral Commons project is a two-block, mixed-use development on Wisconsin Avenue in Northwest Washington, DC, The development includes 137 apartment units and eight townhomes, more than 500 parking spaces, and 128,000 square feet of vibrant retail anchored by a state-of-the-art Giant Food. This new development created a mixed-used community where residents can enjoy a wealth of conveniences just outside their front door.
Fort Myer’s electrical department demonstrated their strengths on this project and the team’s responsibilities included installation of traffic signals, pedestrian signals, demolition/relocation of existing traffic signals and poles. Our asphalt division also pitched in on this project, performing full-depth asphalt paving on Idaho Avenue, 38th Street, Newark Street, various driveways and a loading dock located off of Idaho Avenue on the South Parcel.
Project Significance
From ground-level restaurants to rooftop terraces with vast city views, and everything in between—Cathedral Commons has several features for residents and guests to enjoy. These conveniences makes this development an example of the vision that DC has in store for urban community planning and development. Fort Myer takes pride in being involved with the infrastructure and foundation for this well-planned area.
