700 PENNSYLVANIA AVENUE – STREET LIGHTING
This project included a 163,000-square-foot office building and 60,000 square feet of shops, boutiques and restaurants with an emphasis on locally-owned businesses. The retail section includes 1,000 square feet of “incubator space” for new businesses, landscaped plaza and parking for residents, office workers and shoppers. Most importantly for many DC residents and visitors, a permanent home has been created for the Eastern Market Flea Market on weekends along the newly reopened C Street that now connects 7th and 8th streets SE.
Fort Myer Construction’s responsibility was to remove and haul away (16) streetlight poles, and furnish and install (27) new poles and fixtures of various types. We also installed (9) 4’x4’x4’ DC manholes and all necessary conduit, wiring, and ground rods between DC manholes, light poles, and Pepco feed points. Our crews make “hot” terminations inside Pepco manholes for S/L circuits after inspections and installed all manhole and pole tags per DDOT’s list.
Project Significance
FMCC had to strategically work within narrow city streets, and coordinate our work with various other trades to safely and successfully meet the engineer’s design.
