SOUTH CAPITOL STREET NEAR TERM IMPROVEMENT
This project included the improvement of all streets surrounding the new Washington Nationals Baseball Stadium, work included reconstruction, upgrading and resurfacing of all roadways, modification and upgrading of traffic signalization, construction of a new storm water management structures, enhanced line stripping, and landscaping that included placement of Silva Cell to improve the survivability of trees in an urban environment. The project also included the Design-Build of sanitary sewer distribution system and a water delivery system for the entire project.
Project Significance
This project highlighted Fort Myer Construction’s ability to construct and revitalize urban neighborhood streets surrounding a major sports facility in a fixed deadline environment. The project included landscaping, bicycle racks and all utilities. Because of the impending Opening Day at Nationals Stadium, all work was completed by deadline and in coordination with numerous contractors, subcontractors and suppliers, while minimizing inconvenience to residents and road traffic surrounding the new stadium.
