GLEBE ROAD AND RANDOLPH PARK
Construction of public park fronting Glebe Road in Arlington, VA, including site preparation, installation of two regulation size bocce courts, accessible paths, landscaping, irrigation, and flowering shrubs that support a variety of butterflies, birds, and insects. Also installed, was specialty contemporary and stylish site furnishings. Also performed was installation of new standard-design bike rack and ground cover lighting.
Project Significance
This project demonstrates Fort Myer Construction’s ability to develop new urban parks and recreation facilities in high-profile urban residential/commercial areas in an integrated fashion. Extra care was required to install self-leveling to bocce irrigation and drainage system. Additionally, regulation, organic dust material was attained and installed to exceed the client’s original plans of standard court dust.
The president of DC Bocce Association aided in the design process and plays on these professional courts regularly.
