DOWNTOWN BUSINESS IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT
The project involved streetscape and street light improvements in a Washington, DC downtown business district incorporating Chinatown’s commercial corridors. The work included new construction or repair of brick and pavers sidewalks, curbs and gutters, upgrades for existing wheelchair ramps, upgrades of street lighting, relocation and repair of traffic signals, relocation of existing hydrants, planting of trees and flora, fitting sites with furnishings – bike racks, trash and recycle receptacles, resurfacing of existing asphalt roadways, and the installation of brick pavers with animal symbols in Chinatown.
Project Significance
This ARRA (Stimulus) project showcased Fort Myer’s ability to perform construction on roadways and sidewalks congested with a high concentration of pedestrians and vehicular traffic.
