WASHINGTON GAS PAVEMENT RESTORATION
This Washington Gas Light (WGL) Pavement Restoration contract complements the utility company’s overall pipeline replacement program in the District. Fort Myer Construction has performed this work for WGL for nearly 2 decades. The contract scope requires our team to identify, schedule, repair, provide as-built drawings, and invoice all types of sidewalk and roadway pavement repairs after utility work is performed by WGL in various locations across DC. Strong coordination both internally and in the community is required with multiple crew allocations including, 3 concrete crews and 2-4 asphalt crews to satisfy the strict time limit requirements imposed by the contract along with DDOT’s spring operation called, “smooth streets”. The work is tracked through an online web portal and generates revenue of $10 to $15 million dollars annually.
Project Significance
Current workload has doubled from $5-$6 million in recent years to $15 million in 2018 due to Washington Gas’ expanded pipeline replacement project. Work is performed throughout every quadrant of the city resulting in both the administrative and field staff often operating under challenging conditions.
