DC Water established the Capitol Improvement Project to upgrade the watermain infrastructure and distribution system by targeting strategic areas of concern. This project improved the infrastructure and increase reliability of water distribution in the DC area.
Fort Myer was responsible for installing approximately 3 miles of water main and copper water service connections to hundreds of homes and several businesses in the affected areas. The contract also entailed permanent surface restoration involving brick sidewalk, concrete sidewalk, and roadway including asphalt milling and overlay.
Project Significance
This project improved water infrastructure allowing the flow of water to effectively be distributed to DC’s homes and businesses. These new valves and water mains improved the water quality and distribution to the affected areas.
On this project, Fort Myer was able to work with both DDOT and DC Water to complete the project, to further our goals of environmental stewardship and play a vital role in improving supply of a necessary element for our community.
