SIX I-95 BRIDGE REHABILITATIONS: STAFFORD AND SPOTSYLVANIA
The I-95 Bridge Rehabilitations project rehabilitated six bridges on Interstate 95 in Stafford and Spotsylvania counties. The project improved the condition of the northbound and southbound bridges that carry I-95 over Aqua Creek and Potomac Creek in Stafford, and the Ni River in Spotsylvania.
Fort Myer Construction was responsible for repairs on the decks, superstructures, substructure concrete, and concrete beam ends. The team replaced several beam bearings and handled all deck patching, joint reconstruction, deck overlay, concrete slope protection repairs, and provided regular safety inspections.
Project Significance
The bridges are over waterways and adjacent wetlands, so environmental & sediment control measures were a critical component for this project. To ensure there were no major incidents, mandatory inspections were performed weekly and within 48 hours following a storm.
