PEPCO DUCT BANKS – POTOMAC ANNEX
The Pepco Duct Banks – Potomac Annex project was for the construction of electrical system distribution improvements required to support the building renovations. This work entailed excavation trenching, installation of duct banks and equipment vaults to support the new electrical service infrastructure at Potomac Annex.
Fort Myer Construction’s responsibilities included construction of Pepco manholes and duct banks along with asphalt restoration to the surface of affected areas.
Project Significance
The next steps after this portion of construction was to construct a newly rehabilitated LEED certified building to transform the Potomac Annex and Navy Hill properties into a single, state-of-the-art federal campus that serves the long term needs of DOS and minimizes the agency’s real estate expenses by transitioning employees from leased private office buildings to a federally owned site. The plan laid the foundation for the development of the campus with the goal of preserving the cultural legacy of the site, while responding to the development needs of the DOS.
