Good news for thousands of District commuters was published in The Washington Post on June 24, 2015. The newspaper’s “Dr. Gridlock” reported the swift progress Fort Myer Construction is making on the bridge reconstruction at 16th Street and Military Road NW for District Department of Transportation. DDOT’s director announced they can reopen all lanes on the rebuilt bridge on Wednesday, July 1, which is around two weeks ahead of schedule. This is especially convenient for the extra travel anticipated in the region around the Fourth of July holiday weekend.
